A motorcyclist was killed early this morning due to an accident involving a car, the Montgomery County Police reported. The accident occurred on Muncaster Mill Road (MD 115) at Avery Road in Redland, Md., just to the east of Upper Rock Creek Park. Muncaster Mill Road is closed between Avery Road and Needwood Road while investigators from the Montgomery County Police are on the scene.

The accident was reported to them at 2:40 a.m. They declined to offer a specific timetable for the closure, but officials said it would remain at least into the morning rush.

Maryland woman dies in Bermuda accident

A Baltimore County woman was killed in a motorcycle accident while traveling in Bermuda, according to law enforcement officials there. Bethany Heinrichs, 33, of Halethorpe was riding a rented motorcycle about 1:50 p.m. Tuesday when she hit a curb on Penders Road in Sandys Parish, according to the Bermuda Police Service. Heinrichs was taken to King Edward Medical Center with chest and abdominal injuries, and was pronounced dead at 8:45 that night.

A Carroll County man died Monday after the motorcycle he was riding struck a car head-on in Westminster. Edward Nicholas Dill, 28, was pronounced dead at Maryland Shock Trauma Center about four hours after the collision that threw him more than 20 yards from the motorcycle, police said.

According to a Sheriff’s Department statement, Cpl. Mario DeVivio was heading north on Route 97 in an unmarked police car when Dill pulled in front of him on a 2004 Yamaha motorcycle. When DeVivio signaled Dill to pull over, the motorcyclist fled, disappearing from the deputy’s sight, the report said. Dill traveled about a quarter-mile before crossing the center line in a curve and striking an oncoming Ford Fusion, according to accident reports.

Dill was flown to Shock Trauma by state police medevac and died early Monday afternoon. The driver of the Fusion was transported to Carroll Hospital Center as a precaution and later released. An investigation showed that the motorcycle had been reported stolen by the Penn Township, Pa., Police Department on Sept. 17.

Traffic-collision reconstructionists from the Carroll County Sheriff’s Department and the Maryland State Police investigating, police said. Anyone who may have witnessed the collision is asked to contact Sgt. Mike Zepp at 410-386-2900 or mzepp@ccg.carr.org.

Adams Douglas Ketels, 25, of Annapolis, died on Friday when his Yamaha hit a car.

A Saturn driven by Michael Joseph McCann, 38, of the first block of Helms Pick Court in Catonsville was turning left out of the Bowen Farm Supply store onto Riva Road near Aris T. Allen Boulevard shortly after 5:30 p.m., according to police. Traffic had stopped in the two southbound lanes of through traffic on Riva Road, police said. As the car entered the southbound left-turn lane, Ketels changed into that lane, began to accelerate and struck the driver’s side of the car, according to police.

An off-duty county volunteer firefighter who saw the crash tried to help Ketels, police said. Ketels was taken to Anne Arundel Medical Center, then flown to Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he died from his injuries. The car’s driver was not hurt, police said.

1 killed as motorcyclists collide in Columbia

On Sunday evening 2 men were injured and one of them was killed after, according to Police, they were speeding well above the posted limit and collided near Snowden River Parkway before 6 p.m.

Ronal Wayne Parker, Jr. of Mitchellville was pronounced dead at the scene, after he was ejected from his motorcycle and struck a guardrail.

The other driver was identified as Vincent Williams of Catonsville and was listed in good condition at the Maryland Shock Trauma Center.

This accident remains under investigation by county police.

Severn man, woman seriously injured in motorcycle accident Monday night 8/31/09

The Baltimore Sun reports that a Severn man and woman involved in a motorcycle accident Monday night on Guilford Road near Annapolis Junction in Howard County were in serious condition at Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, according to police.

Charles Woodworth Brown, 59, of the 1200 block Reece Road was driving the Honda Goldwing motorcycle with Erma Jean Gaten, 53, as his passenger when the accident occurred about 9:17 p.m., according to police. Gaten lives at the same address as Brown, police said.

Brown and Gaten were traveling eastbound near Iron Bridge Road when Brown lost control and ran off the right side of the roadway, hitting a tree and overturning, according to police. Both riders were thrown off the motorcycle.

Charges were pending the police investigation.

Otis Jones died in a motorcycle crash in the area of Southern Maryland Blvd. & Sands Road in Lothian

Otis Russell Jones, 43 of Clinton died Thursday night in a motorcycle crash he was dead at the scene.

The crash occurred at about 8 p.m. in the area of Southern Maryland Boulevard and Sands Road in Lothian.

His 2001 Kawasaki Motorcycle was traveling northbound on Southern Maryland Boulevard when it crossed the yellow lane line onto the left shoulder, making contact with the rumble strips.

The motorcycle then re-entered the travel lanes but was out of control, and Jones eventually struck several trees, police said.

Police are still investigating. They said speed may have been a contributing factor in the crash.

William Jacobs was killed on his motorcycle in Glen Burnie, on Tuesday August 18,2009

A motorcyclist was killed early Tuesday when his bike collided with a car in Glen Burnie.

William Shawn Jacobs, 35, of the 200 block of Glen Road in Glen Burnie died at Maryland Shock Trauma Center, Anne Arundel County police said.

Police said he was riding a 2008 Harley-Davidson motorcycle south on Crain Highway shortly before 2:30 a.m. A 2004 Acura driven by Alida R. Holyoke, 27, of the 200 block of Woodhill Drive in Glen Burnie was attempting to turn left from northbound Crain Highway onto Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard and did not yield the right of way, police said.

Jacobs was thrown from his motorcycle in the crash.

The investigation is continuing.
